Water Drops - Take 3

 Thursday, January 20, 2011

You may have seen my previous posts about try to get this water drop shot here and here.  I was having a lot of issues with my focus and couldn't quite get the shot.  Then Michelle over at Snapshots by Michelle (which is a great blog that you should check out!) sent me some very helpful emails with tips to improve my shot.

-Use a tripod.  I had been hand holding my camera, and the tripod helped immensely.
-Tie off your water source/drip bag.  Make sure the water hits the water at the same spot every time.
-Use manual focus.  Since you know where the water is going to fall you can manually set your focus to that spot and then the continuous shot setting on your camera will work much faster.

I tried all these tips and I think it really helped.  I didn't have a whole lot of time to try it out and I still feel like I need more practice, but I think i'm getting closer!

I think the teal green ones are my favorite. These were my faves of my latest attempt, but don't be surprised if I make you look at more in the future!

These look great. Thanks for showing your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd try. It really helps. I tried once, got discouraged and haven't tried again. However, each time I see or read another blog post on water drops I am encouraged to try it again.
