Fireworks!!!
Monday, July 4, 2011
I was very excited to try taking firework pictures for the first time! We weren't super prepared and didn't have the best view in the world of the show, and I trees blocking half of them, but I still got a few I liked! These are all Straight Out Of Camera (except for cropping) so I'm also using them for Jill and Ashley's "Good to Wow" link up. We link up our SOOC shots with Jill and then link our edits with Ashley on Thursday.
So I read this great firework tutorial on Snapshots by Michelle and pretty much followed all her tips. I used a tripod, set my ISO to 200, my aperture to f/20 and did 4 second exposures. I locked off my focus manually so my camera didn't try to find focal points every time I clicked the shutter. I used my 17-70mm zoom lens and was zoomed in pretty close to 70mm. Here are some of my results!

I really love how all the shots came out so differently, and there's something I REALLY love about the silhouette of the little girl climbing the fence to watch in the last shot!
Hope everyone had a great 4th!

These are really awesome! You must have been further from your fireworks--my 50mm cut of the edges of my shots. That last one is particularly incredible!
