Wrapping up Maui
Thursday, October 6, 2011
I'm getting down to some of my last Maui shots to share. I think tomorrow I'm going to do a post with all my favorite sunset shots, but here are some of the last of my day time shots that I haven't shared yet.
I can't remember if I mentioned it before or not, but I rented a Nikon 14-24mm 2.8 lens from a camera store in Maui to use for the week. It was fun learning to use a new lens and it helped me get awesome landscapes that I wouldn't have been able to get otherwise. It was an amazingly fast, sharp lens. However it was also really heavy and big and bulky and was difficult to carry around sometimes. I'm now on the hunt for a good wide angle lens that's also light and easy to carry. Any suggestions?
With the exception of this first shot, (which I took with my 50mm 1.8), these were all taken with my rented 14-24mm lens.

This last one's my favorite...I love the sky and the warm light.

Stay tuned for the last of my sunset shots tomorrow!

These are gorgeous! Looks like it was a really fun lens. I've never used a super wide one like that. The last one is my favorite.
Beautiful!! They are breath-taking!!
These are so gorgeous - makes me want to go back to Maui!
Can I just live in Maui vicariously through your photos? Soooo peaceful. :)
Gorgeous and breathtaking! I had NO clue that it was possible to rent lenses, that is so clever! :-)
So beautiful! Wish I were in Hawaii. Sigh. =>
Well, you got some amazing pictures with that lens!!
I'd love to go there...
Hope your day is blessed♥
Wonderful photos, it must have been an amazing holiday. The second is my favourite. Good you took opportunity to try out a lens before committing to buying.
Ah man!!!! I am just jealous...I would love to go to Maui ALONE and just snap away....these pictures are divine. I am so in love.
p.s. Sunsets are my fav....so I am just itching to see what you have in store for us tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog. I am so glad you did....your photos are just gorgeous!!! Looking fwd to having some time to have a look through more of them too :) Sarah XO
I love the palm tree! They're all gorgeous.
These are lovely! What a cool place to visit!
STUNNING!!! That one of the falls reminds me of when I spent time on Oahu- we hiked to these falls through some cane fields- it was incredible. I wish I knew something about photography then. I really should try renting a lens. I have been wanting to get a wider angle than my 18mm. Sometimes it's just not enough. :)
Great shots! I really want to go to Maui now.
These are breathtaking. So gorgeous. Maybe one day I will get to visit there...
Wow! Very pretty shots!!
Looks like a magical place!
Gorgeous shots, especially the last one! I'd like to get a wide angle lens at some point, so renting seems like a good option in meantime. You just gave me an excellent idea! :)

You and Kristi (of Live and Love out Loud) are so lucky to be able to capture green in Hawaii. Trying not to be too jealous. lol. Great captures.
oh...how I wish I was in hawaii right now! heidi at measamother.com just got a wide angle lens and I haven't used it, but it doesn't look too big. maybe ask her about it. I know she loves it!
Thank you. Now I want to go to Hawaii and get a new lens :) Wonderful shots!
Lovely shots! I didn't get a chance to photograph any waterfalls when I was home in Hawaii this time around, but it's on the list of stuff to do next summer for sure!
