California Poppy Reserve

 Thursday, April 19, 2012

I think I've taken more pictures in the last few days then I have all year! I shot my very first wedding (yikes!) and did TWO maternity shoots! Oh and remember my friends Staci and Andy who's maternity shoot I posted last week? Well they had they're baby, happy and healthy baby boy Evan.  I got to visit her in the hospital and grab few pics of the perfect baby just hours after being born and I can't wait to take a thousand more pics and hopefully do an official newborn session next week!

Thankfully, I've been off work this week, which is why I've had time to do all this shooting. And I can't wait to share all the pics from these sessions but I'm still sorting and editing through them all! I should be able to get some wedding ones up in the next few days!

And in the midst of editing madness I took a day trip up to Antelope Valley, about an hour and a half north of Los Angeles to the high desert where they have a Poppy Reserve in bloom this time of year.  Unfortunately, its the driest winter LA has had in years and they didn't get nearly the amount of wildflowers as they usually do but there were still fun bursts of poppies and other wildflowers here and there!

I couldn't believe how still this lizard stayed as I got closer and closer with my macro lens!

I just had to distract myself from my portrait sessions for a minute to share some spring flowers, but now I must get back to my editing :)

What a great place to shoot! The shot of the field of poppies reminds me of the movie "The Wizard of Oz" when they are running through one and falling asleep. :-)
