Peru Preview

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who guest posted for me while I was in Peru last week! I loved showcasing these awesome bloggers.  Secondly, I signed into my google reader for the first time in a week and found over 400 unread items! So I'm sorry if I haven't commented on your blogs in a while, and if it takes me a while to catch up! I'll do my best to catch up on everything I missed!

I got home late last night from the most amazing trip ever! I had my computer with me on this trip so I've been uploading and editing a bit throughout the week and got a chunk done on the long plane ride home last night.  I just wanted to share a few of my favorites so far!

This is a view of the Sacred Valley in Cusco, Peru from the top of a hill. Far below you can see the Salineras, the Incan Salt Mines, that are still mined for salt today.

Salt Mines

(thanks to Patty who guest posted about Sun Flare last week--it helped me get this cool starburst flare!)

Down below a local Peruvian waits at the Salt Mines.

Peruvian at Salt Mines

From Cusco we took an amazing 3 1/2 hour train ride through the Sacred Valley along the Incan Trail to get to Aguas Calientes, the small town that lies below Machu Picchu. This is one of our many incredible views from the train ride.

This is the small town of Aguas Calientes, wrapped around the Urubamba River.
  Aguas Calientes

From Aguas, we took a 30 minute shuttle bus ride that zig zagged up the side of the mountain, until we reached the amazing Machu Picchu!

My boyfriend grabbed this awesome shot of me showing how excited I was to be there!

Jump for Joy!

Afterwards we taught other people how to take jump shots because they saw mine and wanted their own! One last picture of me for now, also taken by my boyfriend.

I can't wait to share more pictures from my trip! By the way, I was complaining to my man before I left that I wished I had a super wide angle lens for this trip for awesome landscapes and he surprised me when picking me up for the airport by handing me an awesome Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 Lens that he rented for me to use on the trip! I'm so in love with this awesome lens and got some great shots with it!

Fabulous trip!!!! I am so impressed that their salt mines look so similar to our salt flats here.

Your boyfriend totally rocks. I have been wanting a super wide angle for a while now with all this wide open space we have here. I can't decide between that & a macro for my next purchase. Complete opposites.

packmom June 5, 2012 at 8:37 AM

Love these! I'm really loving the lady at the salt mines! Love how perfect the light is on her and the shadow to the right of her. Full sun scares me, but I love how you worked the light.
