Parfait

I haven't done much food photography lately, but as soon as I saw this recipe for Greek Yogurt with Warm Berry Sauce, I knew I would want to photograph it! (Recipe Below)

I've been trying to eat a little healthier lately, and sweets has been a hard thing for me to give up.  This perfectly satisfies my sweet tooth for either dessert or even for breakfast with a little granola thrown in.

I threw in a few extra fresh berries on top too! I used blackberries and blueberries for this, but you could use any berry really.

I made this in the evening after work and by the time I was done I was quickly loosing light and ended up setting this up on my balcony trying to utilize the last tiny bits of sunset light!

I really love the way shooting these in the "golden hour" added a nice warmth to the gooey sauce.

Greek Yogurt with Warm Berry Sauce
-2/3 Cup Blackberries (fresh or frozen--I used fresh)
-2/3 Cup Blueberries
-1/2 Cup Water
-1/4 Cup Sugar
-2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
-1 Tablespoon Butter
-Greek Yogurt (or ice cream!)

Combine first 5 ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.  Reduce hit and simmer for 10 minutes, until sauce begins to thicken.  Smash berries up a bit with a fork.  Stir in butter. Pour over yogurt!

Pull Back Shot
Here is a cell phone pic of my set-up.  The sun was coming from behind and to the right of the set-up, and reflected back with my reflector on the left.  I simply set up a cutting board on the edge of my balcony and covered it with some fabric I had and added a few paper napkins.

(please try to ignore the Christmas lights on my balcony!)

Great pictures and sooo nice to see the pull back shot. I always wonder how people get such great food shots. Mine clearly are horrible. Nice to have some ideas! :)

I'm a sucker for berries. This looks and sound yummy! I'm laughing at the bottle on the back of the reflector. Ha ha ah......nice job.

These are so DIVINE!!!!!!!!! I think I pinned one last night. Came out beautiful but I did gasp when I saw your pull back. With the position in relation to where I would be putting the camera- I would have knocked it all off the side. :) You did such a great job on these- but then again, I'm not at all surprised by that.

These looks soo good (both photography wise and yummy factor!). I had to giggle at the christmas lights as I didn't even noticed. I noticed the bottle being used for the reflector ;)
